Part two of Colorado!

After driving past Saul the Giant Sticker Ball, I was most of the way up to Fort Collins , and it was getting dark. Not that it was super late or anything, but the mountains turn off the light around 6:30pm, lol.

By the time I got to his place, it was fully dark, and we hung about for a bit before ordering Dominoes. We then talked way late  into the night as we always do when we catch up. It was also nice meeting and talking with his girlfriend, whom I’ve interacted with over the chat room of my brother’s stream, but no other way, lol.

The restaurant we were going to eat at, Snooze, had a wait time of about half an hour, so we walked over to the Global Village Museum of Arts and Culture, where they had some amazing miniatures, dollhouses, dolls, and carved figures, amongst cultural items from around the world.

Snooze had a breakfast fried rice plate that I just couldn’t resist, it sounded so amazing, and they also had a Korean Bloody Mary. I don’t normally drink in the morning, but I was so intrigued, I did that day :-p. They fully deserved to be that packed, as every thing I had was awesome.

After that my brother and I went for a 6-7 mile hike where we went from 5000ft in elevation to over 7200ft elevation up to the top of Horsetooth Mountain. I was doing pretty good at 5k elevation, especially for someone who lives at 600ft, lol, but those last 2k really left the oxygen behind :-p

I took a few pictures, but I let my brother take most of them, on his fancy camera, because as we ascended, the temperature dropped from a brisk but tolerable low 40s, so a cold as all get out low 20s. I didn’t particularly feel like freezing my fingers off, lol, but I’ll post more pics once he gets them developed:-)

When we got back to his place we cleaned up and got ready to go out to Social, a basement speakeasy in oldtown Ft Collins. The town lit up the streets with lights in all the trees, and it started snowing a bit as we were waiting, so it was very pretty. I didn’t get any pictures of Social, but it was as beautiful as it was packed, lol. We had some amazing food and drinks, and exited into what Texans would call a blizzard, and would make Coloradans go “oh, I guess it’s snowing a bit”.

The next day I spent mostly with my youngest brother, but since we were meeting at noon, and I woke up pretty early, I walked around the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery. It was a cool little place, full of exhibits about Fort Collins’ history, and touch and play exhibits about physics. After that, I picked him up at my stepmom’s and got to have a nice talk with her and two of my stepsisters both before and after my brother and I hung out 🙂

We went to his tea house in town and had one of his favorite teas, Russian Caravan. It was awesome, it’s kind of like a more subtle Lapsang Souchong. We had a good long talk, catching up after, frankly, way too long a time. We than went to a Nepali store nearby, and it was full of a lot of amazing things, and I picked up a few things. We then headed on back and talked a bit more with the family before I left to go get a massage (I had just walked up a mountain the day before, after all, lol).

I found out about this place, 2nd & Charles, which is frankly an amazing used bookstore, and that’s coming from someone who worked at one for just under 15 years. If it hadn’t been getting late (and me being limited by bag space, curse you geometry, lol), I would have spent a much longer time there.

Brother the first, who I was staying with, his girlfriend and I went out to a Korean sushi fusion restaurant Fort Collins called Suh Sushi Korean Barbecue for dinner, and did the “grill your own meat” platter, and everything was super delicious, though we did accidentally forget the leftovers on our way out.

We then went back to his house, crashed, and I woke up at 4 to drive down to Denver to fly myself home (and boy are my arms tired). Also, I think o forgot to mention the Colorado school of mining museum that I went to, in the first half of my trip, so, if you want to see a lot of amazing minerals, go there!

I came home with some chest congestion, so I don’t think I want to fly out to Guam next week (coughing up junk on a plane for 30 hours on and off), and than I go see my sister, so I might do that after my walk(?). If I’m feeling better early next week, I might fly out to another one of the Meow Wolf locations, either Houston, San Diego, or Las Vegas. If you have an opinion, feel free to comment 🙂
